Call for Participation: Video Conference Seminars

We invite groups (both established institutions and informal networks) as well as individuals to join us for a series of video conference seminars in 2009.

There will be 3 events, each with a key international speaker followed by extensive discussion between participants, on the theme of  ‘Materiality and Story’.

Please see the tab Video Conferences at the top of the page for more information and how to join the conversation, or download the Call for Participation.

Due to the technical complexity of the video conferences, if you are interested in participating please get in touch with us by 1st April 2009. We are planning a ‘test-run’ between all participant sites in mid April 2009, and the network for participants will be fixed at this point.

STS Mixtures – Materiality, Specificity and Story

How might Science & Technology Studies (STS) attend to empirical ‘details’  – the specificity of evidence and materials – differently, considering their performative effects and ontological enactments?

A cross-disciplinary and trans-continental seminar series for 2009, featuring presentations and discussion between staff and postgraduates across institutions concerning ‘Materiality, Specificity and Story’ in STS. Events include-

  • workshop at Lancaster University in March 2009
  • 3 video conferences in May, July, October 2009
  • online discussion via this blog page throughout 2009

Please see the tabs at the top of the page for more information and how to participate in the Workshop and Video Conferences. If you would like to be kept informed, please join our Mailing List.
